Tony Schumacher - Owner and Chief Meteorologist
Tony Schumacher grew up in north central Wisconsin on a dairy farm near Dorchester. Tony received his B.S. Degree in meteorology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He began his career in 1993 as a staff meteorologist for Great Lakes Weather Service and WSAW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin. Besides the TV duties at the station, Tony provided forecasts for dozens of radio stations along with writing daily weather columns for the Wausau Daily Herald and the Wisconsin Rapids Tribune. Tony has obtained the official certification for Doppler Radar interpretation and earned the distinguished American Meteorology Society Seal of Approval for TV weather in 1995. Moving on to the Green Bay area, Tony worked for WFRV-TV from 1997 to 1999, handling the weekend weather duties and forecasting for four radio stations in Green Bay, the Fox Valley and Manitowoc, Wisconsin. In March 1999, Tony returned to Wausau to head up the Live Super Doppler 9000 Storm Team at WAOW-TV and pursue a purchase of Great Lakes Weather Service. Tony has also written over 60 weather columns for the regional magazine, Silent Sports. Tony was awarded the Wausau Area's favorite meteorologist award 8 years in a row by the City Pages Newspaper reader's survey. Tony enjoys spending time with his wife and children, most sports, playing trumpet, gardening, cooking, and being active in his church.
Justin Loew
Justin has been a key employee of Great Lakes Weather Service and WAOW-TV since 2001. Justin previously worked at another Wausau television station, serving as their morning meteorologist. He left Wausau for the sunny climate of California, but returned in November, 2001 to Wausau. Justin is very popular on his role as morning forecaster for WSAU Radio which covers a good chunk of central and northern Wisconsin. His witty banter and deep weather knowledge and forecasting skill is a great combination. Justin has a B.S. Degree in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He also holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval for TV. He developed weather sensing devices for use by Cranberry farmers in their bogs. Justin grew up on a dairy farm near Colfax, Wisconsin. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and sports during his spare time.
Megan Syner
Megan became staff meteorologist for Great Lakes Weather and weekend meteorologist for WAOW-TV in Wausau, WI in January 2007. She also appears on WFXS-TV in Wausau. She orginates from just outside Pittsburgh, PA but is really excited about the extreme weather conditions of the Upper Midwest. Megan has a B.S. degree in Meteorology from Penn State University. She gained considerable forecasting experience while at Penn State and while interning at WTAJ-TV in Altoona, PA. She also worked for the Penn State Weather Communications Group, taking detailed weather observations and producing a 15 minute live weather show called "Weather World". She also hosted a weekly student weather show called "Weather or Not" and was the producer of "Weather Whys", a popular segment on Weather World that features Dr. Jon Nese, who was formally with the Weather Channel. Megan is a member of the American Meteorological Society and a cloud enthusiast. Her love for the weather, ambition, and cheerfullness makes her a valuable member of our team.
Kevin Kraujalis
Kevin joined Great Lakes Weather Service as a staff meteorologist in October, 2007. Kevin is from the Chicago area and received a B.S. degree in Meteorology from Northern Illinois University in De Kalb. He also earned an Associate Degree from Triton College in Illinois and a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. Kevin is a Certified FAA Weather Observer and has worked for numerous large airports including O'Hare and Midway in Chicago, and Orlando International. Kevin also has experience as manager of 140 employees at a Maintenance Company in Illinois. Kevin worked for the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education in Chicago as well specializing in watershed & hydrologic issues. Kevin's diverse background makes him a good communicator, organized and very good with details. He will incorporate all these qualities in developing and delivering accurate, timely, specific forecasts to our clients.
Casey Neuville
Casey became a staff meteorologist for Great Lakes Weather in October, 2007. Casey is from the central Wisconsin area of Amherst Junction. He enjoys the wide variety of weather conditions the Midwest offers. Casey obtained a B.S. degree in Meteorology from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. Casey gained valuable forecasting and broadcast experience with the College Emmy Award winning station, UTVS at St. Cloud State. He sharpened his radio weathercasting skills there as well. He also had an important internship with WAOW-TV in Wausau, WI to enhance is strong weather education. Besides being well versed in Midwest storms and weather patterns he has special expertise in agricultural weather. Casey is a giant pumpkin grower. His largest pumpkin was just under 1190 pounds! Casey looks forward to helping the clients of Great Lakes Weather.
Phillip Genskow
Phil joined Great Lakes Weather Service in October, 2007. Living in the Milwaukee, WI area his whole life, Phil has a great appreciation for the weather in the Upper Midwest, including how substantially the Great Lakes themselves control weather. He holds a B.S. degree in Atmospheric Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He takes great pride in this accomplishment as he had to work full-time while attending college. Phil has learned much about business and media through his employment at the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel as well. His solid work ethic will certainly shine through in his term at Great Lakes Weather Service. He's thrilled to be able to work in this field which has been his lifelong interest. Phil looks forward to meeting the needs of all of the clients of Great Lakes Weather Service.
Brandon Cromer
Brandon became a staff meteorologist with Great Lakes Weather Service in October 2007. He received his Meteorology degree from the University of North Carolina – Asheville where he focused on weather forecasting and analysis, as well as a B.S. in Business Administration from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina located in Charleston, SC. While attending UNC-A, Brandon focused his research on hurricane forecasts, where he worked closely with the National Hurricane Center forecasters on solutions to provide more accurate hurricane intensity forecasts to the general public. He was also an intern with WYFF News 4 WeatherPlus located in Greenville, SC where he gained considerable knowledge and strong forecasting skills working with local meteorologists. Brandon also has a strong background with the latest weather technology which enables him to provide accurate and prompt weather forecasts that best fit the needs of our clients. Being from South Carolina, Brandon looks forward to the challenge of forecasting in the Upper Midwest. Brandon’s southern hospitality will make our clients feel like part of the family. He is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Service SkyWarn Spotter program. When he is not monitoring the weather, Brandon likes to spend his time watching Clemson football, going out on the lake, spending time with family and friends, and running.
